Location: Winnipeg, MB Full-time (40hrs/wk)  $21.50 - 26 $/hr plus benefits. Application are reviewed on a first come basis.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Dispatcher to oversee daily labour dispatch, manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), coordinate transportation for workers, and maintain a welcoming worker waiting area. The Dispatch plays a vital role in ensuring workers are properly assigned, equipped, and transported to job sites efficiently.

This position requires strong organizational skills, multitasking abilities, problem-solving skills, customer service, along with a valid driver’s license. The Dispatcher will work closely with the Operations Manager, Skills Instructor, and Care Planner to ensure a smooth daily workflow.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Dispatch and Scheduling

•      Schedule and Assign Workers: Match workers to job requests based on skills, availability, and client needs.

•      Confirm Attendance: Ensure workers arrive on time, handle last-minute call-offs, and arrange replacements as needed.

•      Communicate with Clients: Provide staffing updates, respond to inquiries, and address any concerns.

•      Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate logs of job orders, worker assignments, hours worked, and attendance records.

•      Coordinate with the Trainer: Ensure workers have completed necessary training before dispatching them to job sites.

Worker Transportation Coordination

•      Arrange Transport: Coordinate transportation for workers who need assistance getting to job sites.

•      Schedule Drivers: Work with in-house drivers or external transportation services to ensure timely arrivals and pickups.

•      Drive Workers as Needed: If required, transport workers to job sites using a company vehicle.

Worker Waiting Area Management

•      Manage Lobby Area: Ensure the waiting area is clean, organized, and ready for workers to check in..

•      Stock & Maintain a Small Kitchenette: Keep lunch-making supplies and coffee available for workers who need to prepare a lunch for the day.

•      Monitor Worker Flow: Maintain an orderly process for assigning jobs, checking PPE, and addressing worker concerns.

PPE & Equipment Management

•      Ensure PPE Compliance: Verify that all workers have the required PPE (hard hats, gloves, boots, etc.) before dispatching them.

•      Maintain PPE Stockroom & Lending Library: Track inventory, issue PPE, collect returned items, and ensure proper storage.

•      Inspect PPE: Regularly check returned items for wear and tear, replacing as necessary.

Office Operations & Coordination

•      Open the Office Daily: Open office by 6:00 AM to prepare for the workday and ensure everything is ready for dispatch.

•      Support Payroll & Invoicing: Verify hours and relay accurate records to payroll and finance depts.

•      Enforce Safety Standards: brief all workers understand job site safety protocols before dispatch.

•      Report to the Operations Manager: Provide updates on daily dispatch operations, worker attendance, PPE inventory, and transportation logistics.

•      Coordinate with the Trainer: Ensure workers receive necessary certifications and training for job placements.

Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service skills via phone, email, and text. 

  • Experience in scheduling, or logistics preferred.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

  • Ability to work early morning shifts consistently (starting at 6:00 AM).

  • Good communication skills and problem-solving ability.

  • Computer proficiency skills (Microsoft Office, Google workspace, WhatsApp, etc.).

  • Knowledge of PPE and workplace safety standards is an asset.

  • Ability to lift and move PPE and supplies as needed.

  • Smart phone. 

  • Valid driver’s license 

·       Superior interpersonal communication skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

·       Able to obtain a clear child abuse registry check.

Preferred Skills

•      Familiarity with the construction, warehouse, or general labour industries.

•      Customer service experience.

·       Experience in a supportive and mentorship environment

·       Experience working with people with barriers to employment, or marginalized populations.

Compensation & Benefits

The role pays $21.5 - $26, 40 hours/week based on experience, on a structured scale. You’ll also have a Vacation, Health Benefits, RRSP matching (after two years).
